My Mission: Faith, Truth & Justice
Strengthening Our Justice System. Protecting Victims. Defending the Innocent.
I believe God rescued me not simply so that I could survive, but so that I could use my voice, my experiences, and the lessons I have learned to make a difference in the lives of others.
My journey through domestic violence, sexual assault, and the criminal justice system has given me a deep appreciation for the importance of law enforcement, the rule of law, and the responsibility entrusted to those who serve within our justice system.
It has also shown me how devastating the consequences can be when mistakes are made, investigations are mishandled, or victims do not receive the assistance they need.
I know this because I experienced it firsthand.
When I initially sought help from law enforcement, I submitted a written police report but was incorrectly directed to another jurisdiction. Years later, another officer discovered my original report and acknowledged that a mistake had been made.
That initial failure contributed to a five-year delay in my pursuit of justice. During those years, I continued to endure abuse. By the time my case moved forward, the statute of limitations had expired for certain offenses, eliminating the possibility of pursuing those particular charges.
I often wonder what would have happened if I had never found the courage to try again.
But my experience also taught me something equally important.
If it were not for one exceptional police officer who was determined to pursue the truth, I would not have the freedom I have today.
That officer did not give up. He recognized the importance of pursuing the facts, investigating thoroughly, and doing what was right.
His dedication helped change the course of my life.
My experience revealed both the devastating consequences of mistakes within the justice system and the extraordinary difference that one committed officer can make.
It strengthened my belief that our law enforcement officers, attorneys, and judges carry tremendous responsibilities and deserve the education, resources, and preparation necessary to fulfill those responsibilities effectively.
My mission is not to dismantle our justice system, but to strengthen it through truth, education, accountability, and the rule of law.
I believe we can honor those who serve while also recognizing opportunities to improve the systems and procedures they are entrusted to uphold.
And I believe that when we strengthen the knowledge and abilities of those responsible for administering justice, we strengthen the protection of everyone who depends upon them.
My Mission
My mission is to strengthen the administration of justice through professional education, practical training, and a commitment to truth, fairness, and accountability.
For years, I have worked directly with domestic violence survivors, developing and implementing a structured training curriculum designed to help them prepare for the challenges of legal proceedings and navigate the courtroom with greater confidence and understanding.
Through this work, I have witnessed how important proper preparation, accurate information, and a thorough understanding of domestic violence can be to those seeking justice.
My goal is to build upon this experience by bringing practical education directly to law enforcement officers, attorneys, and other professionals responsible for investigating allegations, protecting victims, and ensuring that justice is served.
I believe meaningful improvement begins with education.
When professionals are equipped with the knowledge to recognize abuse, investigate objectively, evaluate evidence, and understand the complexities of domestic violence, they are better prepared to make informed decisions that can profoundly affect people's lives.
My goal is not simply to raise awareness. It is to help equip those entrusted with administering justice to do their jobs with greater knowledge, discernment, and effectiveness.
Supporting and Equipping Law Enforcement
I have tremendous respect for the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting their communities and upholding the law.
I also recognize that even well-intentioned officers may encounter situations for which their training has not fully prepared them.
Domestic violence investigations often involve complicated circumstances, patterns of behavior, conflicting accounts, and victims who may respond to trauma in ways that are easily misunderstood.
I want to help strengthen law enforcement education by bringing practical, experience-based instruction into police academies and professional training programs.
My vision includes helping officers better understand:
The dynamics of domestic violence, coercive control, and sexual assault.
How trauma may affect a victim's behavior, memory, and willingness to report.
The importance of thorough investigations and proper evidence collection.
Jurisdictional responsibilities and appropriate procedures when receiving complaints.
The importance of documentation, communication, investigative follow-through, and accountability.
How to evaluate allegations fairly and recognize potential false reporting through evidence-based investigative practices.
I believe that every person who approaches law enforcement deserves to be treated with professionalism, dignity, and respect.
A person reporting a crime should never be unnecessarily turned away, left without clear direction, or forced to repeatedly advocate for an investigation that should have been properly addressed.
One missed opportunity to investigate can change the course of someone's life. I know because it changed mine.
But I also know that one dedicated officer can make an extraordinary difference.
My goal is to help ensure that the commitment, integrity, and thoroughness demonstrated by the officer who helped me become the standard of excellence we strive to achieve throughout law enforcement.
I want to support our officers by helping provide the education and practical tools they need to recognize abuse, pursue the facts, protect victims, and uphold the law.
Strengthening Legal Representation and Courtroom Preparation
For years, I have worked directly with domestic violence survivors, using a structured training curriculum I developed to help prepare them for the challenges of navigating legal proceedings.
Through this experience, I have recognized a significant need for better courtroom preparation and greater understanding of the unique challenges domestic violence survivors may face.
Many survivors enter legal proceedings without fully understanding what to expect, how courtroom procedures work, or how to communicate their experiences clearly under questioning.
When attorneys do not fully understand the effects of trauma, the dynamics of abuse, or the difficulties survivors may experience during testimony, important aspects of a case may be overlooked or misunderstood.
My vision is to expand the training I have provided to survivors for years and bring that knowledge directly to attorneys and other legal professionals.
I want to help attorneys develop practical approaches to preparing clients for court while maintaining the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and professional responsibility.
This includes helping legal professionals better understand domestic violence dynamics, recognize the effects of trauma, evaluate relevant evidence, and prepare their clients to communicate their experiences clearly and truthfully.
I believe effective legal representation requires more than knowledge of statutes and courtroom procedures.
It also requires an understanding of the people whose lives are affected by those proceedings.
Survivors deserve attorneys who are equipped to understand their experiences, prepare them appropriately, and represent their interests competently.
My goal is to help close the gap between legal knowledge and an informed understanding of domestic violence.
By strengthening education and preparation, I hope to help both attorneys and the people they represent navigate the legal process more effectively.
Upholding Truth, Due Process, and Accountability
I believe justice must always be grounded in truth.
A fair and effective justice system must be committed to protecting genuine victims while also safeguarding innocent individuals from wrongful accusations.
Deliberately false allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault must be taken seriously.
Such accusations can have devastating consequences, including damaged reputations, fractured families, financial hardship, and wrongful legal proceedings.
They can also undermine confidence in our justice system and create additional challenges for genuine victims who come forward seeking protection.
At the same time, an allegation that cannot be proven is not automatically a false report. Investigations must distinguish intentional fabrication from insufficient evidence, delayed disclosures, and inconsistencies that may arise from trauma.
I believe law enforcement officers, attorneys, and judges must be equipped to examine the facts objectively, evaluate evidence carefully, and distinguish genuine abuse from intentionally fabricated allegations.
My advocacy is not for one gender over another, but for truth, accountability, fairness, and justice for all, regardless of gender.
Protecting victims and safeguarding the innocent are not competing responsibilities.
They are both essential to a justice system worthy of the public's trust.
Truth matters. Evidence matters. Due process matters. And accountability matters.
Strengthening Laws, Procedures, and Professional Standards
I believe that our justice system should continually strive for excellence.
Laws, investigative procedures, and professional training standards should be evaluated and improved when necessary to better serve the people they are intended to protect.
My long-term vision includes working with law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, judicial educators, and legislators to identify areas where additional education or procedural improvements could make a meaningful difference.
I am particularly interested in strengthening standards surrounding the handling of criminal complaints, jurisdictional responsibilities, investigative follow-through, and the timely pursuit of evidence.
I also want to bring practical, experience-based education to attorneys and judicial professionals to help them better understand domestic violence and the challenges that can arise during legal proceedings.
My own experience demonstrated how a procedural mistake can have consequences that extend far beyond a single incident.
A delay in an investigation may affect the availability of evidence, the ability to pursue certain criminal charges, and ultimately a person's opportunity to seek justice.
I believe these are issues worthy of serious attention.
Improving our justice system does not require diminishing the people who serve within it. It requires supporting them, equipping them, and holding everyone to standards that reflect the importance of their responsibilities.
My goal is to work toward practical improvements that strengthen investigations, promote accountability, preserve due process, and help ensure that our laws and procedures serve their intended purpose.
How Your Support Helps Advance This Mission
Through my books, speaking engagements, and educational programs, I am working to build a sustainable foundation for this mission.
A portion of the royalties from my book, God Rescues, and proceeds from my speaking engagements will be dedicated to supporting the development and expansion of this work.
These funds will help support:
The continued development and expansion of my existing domestic violence training curriculum.
Educational presentations and professional training resources for law enforcement officers and legal professionals.
Outreach to police academies, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and judicial education organizations.
Legal and policy research related to investigative procedures, professional standards, and legislative improvements.
Opportunities to provide education and training to organizations that may otherwise lack the resources to access it.
My goal is to build a mission that is both meaningful and sustainable, allowing me to dedicate increasing time and resources to educating professionals and helping strengthen the justice system.
Every book purchased and every speaking engagement booked helps create an opportunity to advance this mission.
I believe the greatest impact of my story will not be measured simply by how many people hear it, but by what changes because of it.
A Calling Beyond My Own Story
I believe God can take what was intended to destroy us and use it for something far greater than we could have imagined.
My story is not simply about what I survived.
It is about what God has called me to do with the life He rescued.
I believe Scripture calls us to pursue justice, defend the vulnerable, speak truth, and act with integrity.
Those principles are at the heart of this mission.
I cannot change what happened to me.
But I can use what I have experienced, what I have learned, and the voice God has given me to help make a difference in what happens to someone else.
My freedom was not the end of my story. It was the beginning of my calling.
A calling to educate.
A calling to equip.
A calling to pursue truth.
A calling to support those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
And a calling to help strengthen the laws, procedures, and professional standards that preserve justice.
I am deeply grateful for the officer whose dedication helped bring me the freedom I have today.
My prayer is that the lessons from my experience can help equip many more officers, attorneys, and judicial professionals to make that same kind of difference in someone else's life.
I do not believe God brought me through everything I endured simply so that I could tell the story.
I believe He gave me a responsibility to do something with it.
To stand for truth. To defend the vulnerable. To protect the innocent. And to help strengthen a justice system worthy of the trust placed in it.
Because no victim should have to fight the system to be protected by it.
And no innocent person should suffer because the system failed to pursue the truth.
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9
